Lake Mille Lacs walleye report

Recommended Posts

With the cold snap somewhat simmering down, I decided to hit lake mille lacs for some walleyes.

Our first outing exceeded expectations to say the least. The idea of chasing eyes after a cold snap seems like a great idea on paper. That idea was also proven true in the field.

When targeting walleyes I like to start off towards the shallowest part of the break early in the morning, and then working my way out towards deeper water as the day progresses.

The baits that had the most success was the new rattlin blade spoon from clam outdoors. The name of the game is calling them big girls in from afar, and that's exactly what them rattles do.

We finished the day with 40 fish. The biggest being 23 inches. A lot of 12-16 inch fish. One right at 17 inches, and one right at 21. None in the slot, but that's ok.
