Tim Moore
The fishing on Lake Winnipesaukee has been a little bit inconsistent lately due to varying weather patterns. Wide swings between low and high pressure I've really been causing some spots to turn off while others are turning on we have had to move around A lot in order to continuously find actively feeding white perch. We have been getting most of the white perch in basins around 30 feet deep located alongside steep breaks. The silver tiger blade spoon has been the hot lure this season followed closely behind by the drop. We have been tipping either of these jigs with a piece of warm or spikes to get the fishing going and once they are in a frenzy we switch over to a Maki plastic just to hide the hook. Once you get white perch fired up it's not the date that matters as much as getting your jig back down to the fish quickly. The lake currently has 24 to 30 inches of ice almost everywhere with not much snow to deal with except for some of the drifts that have accumulated. All in all travel has been fairly easy this season with A few slush pockets developing so far.
