Lake Winnipesaukee Fishing Report

The fishing has on Lake Winnipesaukee has been insane this season. The white perch bite is off the hook and the average size of the fish seem bigger than ever. My clients and I have been having huge success with a white w/orange spot Epoxy Drop. I really didn't expect this lure to work so well for whites since they rarely hit anything besides smelt or a swedish pimple, but they seem to love this jig.

I am finding the perch in 27' - 32' of water on inside turns and breaks. Drilling a second hole for the vexilar has been key since the schools never hang around for long. This way I don't have to waste time removing and replacing the transducer from the hole. White perch swim in wide circles when they are hooked and will wrap you up every time.

Most of the bays on the lake have 15"+ of ice. Most of the rest of the lake has around 12" except the broads (the largest and deepest open section of the lake) which still had a bit of open water on Tuesday. With single digit temps during the day and below zero at night I don't expect that open water to last long.

Here are some images from recent trips for your viewing pleasure.
