1900_LE
Anyone have one of these? Need info.
Tony Mariotti
What's your question? I have the FS2000DT, and it is an awesome tool in the right situations, and an absolute blast when you are wanting to just set up on a school of panfish, and pick away. What are you wondering about. Here are two screenshots I took with my old cell phone: First one is 28+ ft. of water on a super clear lake, Second one is a big gill 12 ft. down in 26 ft of water on a stained lake. Both were taken middle of the day.
1900_LE
My biggest concern is how well it works in bright sunlite. I've had a Marcum and a Cabela's in the past and they didn't do to well in sunlite.

Marcum is among the best available. If that didn't work out for you dont think a Vex cam would either.

Depends on which Marcum camera he had. If he had one of the newer models then I would say that the Vex is not going to be any better because the new ones work pretty darn well in bright, sunny conditions. Tony Mariotti
My biggest concern is how well it works in bright sunlite. I've had a Marcum and a Cabela's in the past and they didn't do to well in sunlite. The FS2000DT works well with a sun shade, or in a fish house but in direct sunlight, it is tough to see the screen. That's just a fact of using the LCD screens: If you are in bright sunlight you need to have a sun shield of some sort or it's tough to see any screen. Use them in even a portable for a sun block, and they are awesome for seeing what's going on under you.
Matt Johnson
I've actually been using my Vexilar cameras on my boat ever since they've come onto the market and I haven't had too many problems. It's rigged on a RAM mount and wired right to the main power. I keep the camera/cable in a soft-sided lunch bag and it can quickly deploy the camera when I want to look at structure/fish... Like mentioned earlier, you will have some issues in direct sunlight but that goes for any brand... and I've used them all at some point. Vexilar does offer a new item for this summer called their Fish Scout Summer Kit and I've been using one of those this season and it works awesome. Amazing how much you will use a camera in the boat if it's easy and accessible!! I think too many people underestimate the importance of an underwater camera in the boat too!! muskie hunter
What is the difference between the discountuned Fish scout 1000 and the new 800 and what is the price on the 800?
Matt Johnson
The biggest difference between the two is the camera itself. Both use the same monitor but the FS800 was brought into the equation to meet a much-demanded price point. Here is a link to more info on the FS800... Vexilar FS800 - CLICK HERE Here is a link to the FS1000 as well... Vexilar FS1000 - CLICK HERE The FS1000 is actually no longer a part of the line up but you still may find some available. Hopefully this helps...
