Jim Uran
Fished last night on a northern minnesota lake, and we still have a TON of ice left. We were bottoming out the auger on every hole. It really is unbelievable how much ice fishing we have left to do. A quick look at the extended forecast reveals a steady stream of temps in the upper 30's and lower 40's. With night time temperatures dropping down below freezing. It's going to take a long time time to get rid of this ice. I'll honestly be surprised if I'm not ice fishing May.. We caught a ton of our target species, bluegills. Nothing absolutely huge but plenty of fish hitting the 9" mark. We did catch a couple of surprise fish that totally made the night. Here is Dave with a 36" pig, with an eating problem. Wisely guided through the hole on 2 pound test!! I also got in a non target species battle, here is a nice healthy walter, didn't take time to measure her, just took a pic and sent her home. I'm still loving my Clam Ice Spooler reel, that has been my go to set up all winter long!
