Jason Hamilton
If you remember last time I gave and update it was to bring an auger extension....well...bring 2 or at least an 18" version. Snow, rough ice and just plain lots of ice is starting to add up, I bottomed the auger out the last 2 days with a 12" extension. How's fishing? Ridiculous, the last 2 days. There are piles of fish shallow and they have been ravenous. Yesterday they were nearly jumping out of the holes after Lindy Darters and Live Targets, it was something. Today, after what seems like our daily weather changes. They were snapping Rattlin' Flyer spoons and Tommy Harris Greenback Getters, in orange or variations. What a fishery. waligators
Excactly how thick is the ice? I've got a 12" inch extension is that going to be long enough? Or do I have to rig up two 12" together? Going to driving 250 miles up there, dont want to get there and cant fish! Any info is great! Jason Hamilton
The ice is approaching 4' however there is a lot of rough ice on the top and bottom that adds to this, along with a heavy snow year. There were a few spots I was unable to get through with a 12" extension, I have moved to a 18" model, bringing 2 12" might be a good idea, saves you from digging out the snow from around every hole. As you get deeper the ice is not as thick but I would want the extra length on the extension (HINT!) Oranges have been working well lately too. Rattle baits and flyer spoons.
