Vexilar question

I just got the 22hd with tribeam and I just can't imagine it's working correctly. I have had it out a couple of times in about 12 fow. I have noticed that unless I have something large on like a chubby darter, I cannot get my jig to stay on the screen. There were even times when I would mark a fish on the bottom and could see it start coming up, my jig and the fish would disappear and then I would feel the fish bite even though neither it nor my jig were showing up. I could not get shallow mode to work on any of the cone angles, it would show my jig but every time I twitched it it would disappear for a split second. If I turned it up high enough to keep it on the screen constantly, my jig was so big on the screen it took up almost a full foot increment. It was pretty frustrating and I cannot imagine this is normal. I tried every combination of cone angle, gain, and mode and it just never seemed to work right. I have fished with vex all my life and I cant imagine this is the way it is supposed to be working. Has anyone had this experience?

I would bet your having an issue with the ducer...

eyedr, if you can test it out with another transducer to confirm its a bad ducer. If it is then I would contact Vexilar and they should replace it as they had a bad batch of tri beams come through.

Get ahold of Vexilar. I don't even need to turn my gain on at all to see a tiny jig in 12 ft of water with my tri.

I called them and they said I had to send the unit and the transducer in. I guess I will just try the ducer off my old mans new fl-8 and see what happens.

Would anyone be willing to post a few pics of their 22 in action? I would like to see what is normal as far as a seeing a jig and or a fish.

This video is in about 17ft and using it in low power mode with gain set about 1/4 they way up.

If you are in the cities go to vexilar hq they'll get it taken care of quickly. I had the same issue, I went down there, was in and out in about 10 minutes

With mine I had a bad ducer. Before even turning on my unit the tech guessed that, turned it on for 5 sec, said yep and grabbed me a new one. He said mine was probably bad from the get go that they had a bad batch when they first released them

Same thing happened to mine. Went in with a bad Tri-beam, came out with a new Pro View. Best transducer they ever made.
