Thunderfoot
Hey guys and gals, I'm new to the forum and wanted to say hi! Anybody here fish Union or Maple Lake near Erskin, about 25 miles east of Crookston? I'm new to the area and looking for some decent fishing spots. Also wondering if anyone has checked ice conditions on these lakes yet, thinking I may go for a drive tomorrow and check thickness and look for public accesses so if I do I will post, after the Vikings game of course! Any tips or info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks and good luck! Joe
MN Mike
Welcome to the site Thunderfoot, if you look down the forums there's one called Crookston, Thief River Falls & NW MN, you can post some questions there as well. From what I hear, the local smaller ponds had about 3" of ice as of last week, Maple has been froze over for a couple weeks at least and Union ( west side ) just started freezing last night. Sarah is another one to keep an eye on. I wouldn't trust ANY of them at the moment ( especially Union ) but with the cold temps the next few days, I'm sure there will be some activity soon. Theres been a few thousand geese camping out on a smaller lake not too far away, they've managed to keep parts of it open from there activity, just an indication that things are pretty shaky at the moment. What are you planning on targeting? Mike
Thunderfoot
Thanks Mike! I'm mostly looking for Walleye, and of course Crappie and Bluegill.
