It's been a great couple years fishing out there in Oahe, but I am not sure if it's OK to bring back so many fish. Does someone know for sure if SD limits can legally be brought back to MN ? > 30 vs 6.

As long as you have a valid SD fishing license you are ok. You can have a possesion limit for each license you have. So if you have a SD & MN license you could have a total of 36 walleyes in your possesion.

Thanks ifishsd, I was pretty sure thats the way it would be. We got stopped in ND by the fed. boys and they were suprised at how liberal the fishing was in SD but they sent us on our way after no less than cross examining us as to how many fish we had and going into the boat to retrieve the SD proclamation I had there. We did get a warning about freezing two or three together in water, so since then we have used more plastic bags and no water so they can be counted.
The freezer is getting low again so am looking forward to the double pole bite this fall!

You want to make sure if you are going to freeze the fish that you only have one fish per bag. Alot times what I do is put two fish in one bag, but I put one fish in the bottom on the bag, then one fish toward the top of the bag, then I fold the bag in half.

We use one gallon zip lock bags. Works good for those 14 to 15 inch walleyes,

Yep we are more careful now. We have been getting by with two in a quart bag putting one vertical and one horizontal on top, and no water. The lack of water hasn't hurt either and it makes thawing a snap, I like that grin.gif I ice fished last year there too for the first time , what a frenzyd blast with FOUR lines to tend ! Going to scuba dive it some time and look for a couple lost anchors. I bet there is enough hardware down there to make a sizeable ammo supply !
