Get it a bit higher off the heat and slow down the air more to the wood and she will smoke. Again pretty cheap to try.

No, do not slow down the air to the a-maze-n smoker. You need air, this is not a wood stove.

Put a drip pan upside down and put the amazing smoker on top of it. No doubt it will deflect enough heat
