PRFISHER
Looking for a good time of the year to get in on some good tip-up fishing for northerns in the Wauday region. I have heard that not many people fish the slimy snakes, but i love it. I would assume that pretty soon, like in the next month the fishing could be pretty good. walleye69
PRFISHER,I fish Waubay quite a bit during the winter as I used to live there until I moved to Pierre. The best time for the "snakes" is usually from March until ice out. Find shallow water, 5 ft or less and set up your tipups rigged with smelt & chubs. Last spring alone my brother & I pulled many 10-20lb fish out of there. I am planning a trip or two back there myself in the next month or so to chase the toothy critters. Hope this helps.
