slabberknocker
I am going back to SD for the holidays and was wondering how the ice is from Lake Thompson north and what is a good lake or slough to hit.. I am taking my nephew along and has never been ice fishing so I would like to find some jumbos during the day. I am originally from Freeman so I would like stay within 3 hours of there. I know this is a week away but an early help would be great. ThanksSlab

ifishsd
Ice is 7 to 10 inches from Brooking to Watertown on the smaller lakes. Check out my profile for a link to my homepage for links to fishing reports for South Dakota.
waterfowler
Slabber,I would suggest hitting the area west of Brookings, Thompson, Preston, Hwy 81 ponds or Brush. I've never been to Brush and not caught eyes right at sunset and into the night. Madison is also putting out numbers, but the size is in the small range, 8". Good luck, I'll be heading to the central part of the state, but likely won't have time to fish. I'm going to throw in the rods and auger just in case though.....
