Saw my first mallard clutch out last week.  The hen had right at a dozen brand new ducklings out on Calhoun.  Very few of them will grow up unfortunately.

Back to nw Iowa for a funeral, where I saw two pairs of doves in Mom's backyard.  One obviously ring-necked doves, the other mourning doves,  and then off to the side a rose breasted grosbeak in the feeder.  Chimney swifts and swallows all over - definitely spring.
