Zone 156 Archery Hunting

We recently acquired 80 acres just east of the town of McGrath.  It is a mix of hardwoods with lots of oaks and some swamp to the south.  We put in 5 acres of food plots and the deer haven't really been touching them.

I bow hunted this land hard the weeks up to rifle and saw 1 doe for a minute and she bolted.

Has this area ever been good for hunting and is the herd just low?

Any input would be much appreciated as to if we bought in a decent area.
