Trolling question!

Valde

Question

Hi.

My name is Valdemar, I live in Denmark in Scandinavian.

I found your webside while I was trying to find information about Walleye fishing with downrigger.

The reason that I write to your guys, is that I am planning a trolling trip to Sweden. (neighbor country)

It is not the first time that I am going fishing in Sweden after Walleye, but there is very few people here in Scandinavian that use downriggers for Walleye or pikes.

That's why I started searching for information on the other side of the pond.

If you have some good tips for them I would be very thankful!

One of my main questions is that when I use downriggers I often see a little action on the rodtip but it ends up with no fish!

I guess the Walleye is following the bait and might taste a bit but do not strike it properly.

I have spend many years fishing sea trout from the shore, in a situation like that I would make a stop and go motion. Nine out of ten times the fish will strike the lure in a very aggressive way when it starts moving again.

If I was surface trolling ( no downrig) I would make the lure do the funky chicken dance or make a stop and go, but what opportunities is there when I fish with downriggers? Do you have any tips for that?

I have used the "one shot" stop and go motion, where I pull the line out of the releaser and lower the rod. This method is okay but is there any other methods to perform a stop and go motion when I use downriggers?

I hope to hear from you!

Best regards!!

Valdemar
