Pelican - Wright County

Is anybody fishing this anymore? Is it even fishable and did any fish survive the low oxygen levels of the winter? Looking to chase some largemouth for a while until the rivers drop and I can go back to chasing smallies.....

It was a pretty severe kill out there. Lots of dead Pike and Crappies at the end when they had the open fishing out there. I think Bass die before these species. Maybe some survived in pockets, but I assume it would be slow fishing for Bass out there. I have heard hearsay about some people getting some pike and panfish yet, but haven't seen any caught myself. Never see any boats out there anymore.

I did my own informal survey last week. Went to the boat launch dock where I always would catch a few sunnies the last few years. Fished for about 20min and didn't catch a thing. Not even under the dock where I would always get a few dinks. The wind was really blowing in though and the water was clearer, I could actually see my jig! Not one trailer at the launch. I did see a little ball of fry swimming, but not sure if they were minnows or something else.

Maybe WarEagle can chime in as to what if anything survived. Not sure if any netting surveys were done this spring.

I drove by yesterday on my way home from work and saw a boat trailer at the landing, didn't stick around to wait for the guy but this is the 3rd or 4th time I've seen a trailer there
