Buffalo

Recommended Posts

I was out fishing earlier today and found a lot of Buffalo cruising the shallows and will be heading out later targeting them. I will start with a flyrod and flys.

Any tips on what works. I know they are mainly filter feeders so I'm starting with small wet flys.

I have also heard a nightcrawler with no weight can work.

Give me some tips and I'll let you know if it worked.

oddly enough I've seen them bite on yellow twister tails but this was when they were schooled up below a dam so I don't know if they would have the same behavior cruising the shallows

also, they are spawning right now

I've heard of plenty of people catching them on crawlers during the summer

very beefy, powerful fish!

good luck
