Bear pref pts

So I hunt in area 51 just wondering what my odds will be in getting drawn with 3 points and my buddy has 2. I used to get drawn often with only 1 but now that the past few years they cut back permits I'm curious how many pts typically it takes for this area these days.

According to the 2013 bear harvest report there were 3,796 applicants for the 900 available permits in BMU 51...

Zero Pref. 1 applicants were drawn, and 53 percent of Pref. 2 were drawn..

All applicants with 3 or more Pref. points were drawn...

So, if the number of applicants in each preference category stays about the same....You will be drawn for sure....and your buddy's got a 50-50 chance...but, if you applied as a "group" the group preference goes by the applicant with the "lower" preference...if you did then your group is pref. 2 and you got a 50-50 shot....
