This is Clam Pro David Harrison with the comprehensive Chatfield Ice Fishing Report for the week of Feb 14.

The walleye are moving towards their spawning areas (mainly the dam) but thin and inconsistent ice is preventing many of the prime locations from being fished. My trips focused on the north/south roadbed and plenty of walleye were present but the mid-winter doldrums has made them either a)educated or b)not aggressive (take your pick!). The less the fish can see your bait the better so small, aggressive presentations seem to be working best. We hooked a few walleye but didn't have the luck to land them this week. However, our largest trout of the season did hit a silver Bass Pro XPS blade bait in the 5/8-ounce size.
