Hello RandyFish! I'm a new member who fishes Waconia several times a week. Lot's of good size fish the past week.(3 to 6#).The reeds on the north & west sides have been the best, using jigs, tubes,& silver minnows. The Rock Dock has also been good at times using the same baits.

Good luck

Bassguru,

Thanks for the help and welcome to page. I have just started fishing Waconia this summer. I have a couple of questions:

Where is the rock dock?
What kind of jigs were you using?
Do you throw any texas rigs at all?

Maybe we can get out sometime this fall. My schedule let's me get some mid-week fishing in.

Hello! The rock dock is on the south-west side of the lake, by the trailer court. Actully it is only an 80-100ft long pile of rocks that were put there many years ago. There are no markers there now, so until you learn where the dangers to a lower unit are, stay to the south side & use your electric to explore. ( some of the rocks are still above water, so it is easy to find.)

Any style of Bass jig with a weed guard will work. (flippen, bullet, etc.) I use a 1/2oz jig with a brown skirt & brown craw worm. Use the color you have confidence in. The bass really don't care!!!

Yes, at times I do Texas rig a worm or tube bait. Most of the time if worming, I will use a 10" power bait with a 5/0 wide gap hook, & if tubing a 4" tube with a 1/0 or 2/0 wide gap hook.

As the water cools, try a spinner bait where the weeds end & the sand starts, on Waconia that is generaly around 5-7'.

Good luck & let me know how you do.
