hooking heater up

I just bought an empire direct 35 heater(used). Do I have to run the t-pipe on the bottom of it that connects to the heater? Or can I just run a propane hose from my tanks directly into the fitting on the bottom of the heater? Thanks for any help

You would want a regulator after the tank, then a hose to the heater.

putting the drip tee on the heater will catch any crud coming through the lines. this may save the control on the heater from damage.

okay thanks . It came with the drip tee and wasn't sure if I needed it or not
