I have a hot water boiler system. I changed the two, upper and lower zones, thermostats to new Honeywell heat only ones. There are only two wires, a red and a white to each. The upstairs one had the white wire going to the R connection and the red wire going to the W connection. The downstairs one was just the opposite. They both seem to be working, hard to tell in this cold, but I'm not sure if they're hooked up right or since there's only two wires if it matters which one goes to what?

Usually on the two wire stats it doesn't matter which way they go since all they do is complete a circuit to turn on, and open the circuit to turn off.
