ice fishing around Waterloo,IA or N.E. Iowa

We are new to Iowa and I am trying to get my wife interested in ice fishing down here. Any one care to share some likely spots where to go and what they are biting on? Any help is much appreciated .

Also fish are biting on the Mississippi by LaCresent,MN Northerns on shiners. My cousin caught his limit in back waters by Pickwick,Mn

I suggest getting a trout stamp in a few weeks....stay outta my spots though Also go to the northeast iowa section, not much for this year but if you scroll through past years you can find some good info.

I'm afraid you may be in for disappointment, there are plenty of small lakes around here but the fishing can be pretty sporadic. Lots of pressure on them.

Big woods has a lot of crappie but most run under 8" I fish mostly farm ponds around here but a lot of guys go to clear lake or the Mississippi. South Prairie and Dike are hit and miss.
