SM Lazer synthetic hand auger

I picked up a hand auger at the ice fishing show yesterday thinking that I had gotten a fair deal on a regular (metal) SM Lazer. When I got home and opened the box, I discovered that auger portion is actually a plastic material. (Obviously my fault for not paying attention.) This has me concerned about the durability of the unit. I have been trying to find some reviews to see how people are rating this product, but they are few and far between. Has anybody used them and if so, have I got a good product or did I just buy a disposable auger?

If you got a synthetic for the price that you thought was good for a metal one, then you got a great deal. Those ones are almost double the price of metal ones. I can't comment on durability, but I know Lawrenece L may have used one last season.

Ryan, You got a deal! Those polymer Strikemaster hand augers are very nice. Light weight if you carry it any distance.

I have one that I use for early ice. Cuts really nice and is extremely light! I think you will be happy with the purchase.

Get an adaptor and run the auger bit with an 18V cordless drill. That would be light, powerful, and the ultimate portable power drill!
