It felt good to be back on the ice today. We fished on 4" of black ice that deteriorated throughout the day but still allowed us to stay until almost dark. The fish were cruising and it was near impossible to get a pattern on them. Because of the clear ice nothing was suspending but any opening in green weeds was the best bet. Towards dark the crappie began crushing anything dropped down. We left before it was too dark so we could get off with ease as the shores were terrible.

Nice job Dylan! I'm hoping to get out Wednesday. Still playing it by ear, but I'm definitely going on Friday.

Tim did you get out Friday? I'm waiting another week (at least) before I seek out ice.

I'll probably see you Tuesday at your seminar. I just have to prepare some tough questions! (JOKE). I'll be there to support your cause and spread the good word about ice fishing.

I haven't made it out yet spike. Dylan, we don't have any ice to speak of down here yet. We had several places that caught, but I doubt they made it through the warm spell and rain we had.

I'm hitting the ice up north on Tuesday for trout in the morning. Then I have to come home and get ready for my seminar.

X2 on the ice not holding. There is traces left but the damage was done. Wind yesterday prevented re-locking. Hopefully last night cold and no wind locked them back up. Likely still a couple weeks away down here. That being said I hope to go north next weekend for my first outing. We'll see.

Here's hoping that the snow holds off until we get a decent base of ice.
