heyguy
Hello All, I have a home made wheel house, and I keep the battery in a storage area under the bottom bunk. I'd like to drill a hole in the side of the shack so I can run the generator cables right into the battery so I can charge it up for those weekend stays. Anyone ever try this? thanks! 38bill
Be careful. Unless its a completely sealed battery it will produce hydrogen gas when charged. Very explosive so it needs to be vented.

heyguy
thanks guys. how big of hole do you think I would need to cut in the wall to make it vented enough? I have a forced air furnace, so it sure would be nice to figure out a way to keep that hooked up to the battery while I am charging it. 38bill
For around $40 you can buy a vented battery box from a RV shop. Probably a good way to go because it should keep the battery and the battery compartment warmer. It will also contain any acid that spills. Noble RV can get you one. They've got stores in Owatonna and Minneapolis.
