Wisconsin Lake Trout

I was looking through the trout regulations for WI, and couldn't find anything regarding a winter season on trout lake in vilas county. Is there no ice fishing season on that lake?

Here it is , I found it in the trout regs. under Vilas county. I know guys catch them while they are fishing for whitefish and have to throw the lakers back.

TROUT LAKE—Category 5

Open Season for lake trout: May 4 at 5: 00 a.m. to September 30

Daily Bag Limit: 1 trout in total

Length Limit: 30"

Well…I was planning on going there for the winter trout opener. Takes care of that!

There are other lakes you can fish trout through the ice but not Lakers. I can give you a couple to try if you want.

I appreciate the offer. I was looking at green lake as well. But upon looking at old reports, it looks like it takes awhile for good ice to form on that lake. I'll probably just go to Grand Marais instead.
