First 80-100 yards look poor?

This stream does not seem like a decent stream at the bridge. The next 80-100 yards are less than spectacular. Most folks stop before the good part begins.

How many streams like this have you ignored through the years?

I think a return trip is warranted to those dismissed streams in 2014.

Any bridge hopper or road troller worth his weight in salt would never go more than 40-50 yards from a bridge. What's the fun in that?

I know of one stream that will produce big trout right from the onset- but those are a rare exception.

Most of the streams in the area look like dump from the bridge, but it just takes a few minutes to explore the creek- typically 80-100 yards in both directions to prove the theory wrong.

I did a lot of bridge hopping this summer to get an idea of the lay of the land. I have a few spots where I got some action at the bridge that I plan to go back and explore further.

I did find a few that were total bombs. Essentially warm water swamp holes. I did find a lot of river in between the extremes, it will take some exploring to seperate the wheat from the chaff.
