Iambjm
I have a direct vent heater, two seasons old. I went to light it last week and the pilot light does light up but won't stay lit for me to turn the heater on. It seems like it is not getting enough gas. I filled both of my propane tanks and opened the valves, the stove top works great, plenty of gas coming through. I am thinking I will have to take it in to have it looked at, any ideas about what could be wrong?
dairyman
what kind do you have --does it have a "thermopile or thermocouple"one is fatter then the other. If your pilot light does not get hot enough on the t-couple or t-pile it won't open the gas valve
minnesotathorn
that happened to me once. I found something had made a nest in the outside exhaust. cleaned it out & worked great.
jentz
The thermocouple that the pilot flame burns on to open the gas flow may be sooted up.At times they get to much soot and wont let the heat pass to open fuel flow.Clean it with a solvent and course rag.Make it shine in other words. That may do it.Ifnot the unit may need replacement(Thermocouple) Make sure the pilot flame is pointed to the couple fiRst,clean it anyway
