archeral566
This winter I am looking to upgrade my flasher. At the moment I am running a marcum lx3tc and like it but am handing that one off to a family member and looking at getting a lx6. I am interested in the unit because I like how it has chart, flasher, and vertical chart all in one unit and you can use split screen. My question, is the screen easy to read in split chart and flasher w/o the vertical chart? I was looking at a store and it looks like even in split with chart and flasher, the flasher is not much smaller then on my lx3. Any input would be appreciated before I spend the money on a new unit. Thanks
Redlineracer12
Well if you saw it in the store you will know how big it is I run split screen all the time on mine, usually flasher and vertical zoom, but have run flasher and chart before. My preferred view:
PerchJerker
I've used the LX-7 more than than the LX-6 so my perspective comes from looking at a bigger screen. I usually run mine with a 3-way split with flasher chart and zoom bar all showing. I like the chart, but it's so narrow that you don't get much history with it. It works fine and is easy enough to read, just not a lot of history. Another screen configuration that I like is just the chart and the zoom bar. In that configuration the chart is much wider and you definitely have a bit of time to study the history on the screen before it scrolls away. I think the screen on the -6 is big enough that you'll get the benefit of the split screen, if that's something that you want.
BradHawthorne
Split two ways on the MarCum LX-6 you still have tons of viewing real estate, I run mine split three ways most of the time, 2d, flasher, and zoom baby!
brian6715
If you can afford the LX-7, I would go that route. It doesn't really weigh anymore. After you use the LX-6 or LX-7, you won't believe how much you dislike using the old school flashers, at least IMO.Go with the 6, you won't regret it!!! archeral566
Thanks for your input guys. I was just wondering how it looked when it is sitting at your feet because in the store it looked plenty big to read easily in the split chart/ flasher; but it was a held down display so it was right in my face instead of sitting at my feet like it would be when in the house. wanderlust
i know your question is about the lx6,but most of this will apply, maybe even more so when considering screen conservation. i prefer to use my lx7 split two ways:graph and showdown, no gauges. this gives me the largest graph possible. i love the graph history, it shows how everything is working together (fish speed, jig speed and their depths). the showdown gives a quick view of exactly whats happening at that moment. if the fish are suspended in deeper water say, over 25' i will use the showdown adjustable zoom too, so i can see better detail and separation.both great units, you can't go wrong.
