Choosing The Right Transducer

Im looking at buying a new vexilar. I had an FL8 with the 19 degree and it worked well. I mainly use tipups and I like to throw down unweighted small suckers to let them swim around down there in 20ft or less. I could pick them up often with the 19 degree when my buddy would have problems with the 12. Im wondering if its worth getting the tri-beam? Does the 19 degree work the same with the tri-beam as a single 19 ducer? I heard theres differences with the gain? Please dont tell me to buy a marcum im a vex guy cool

It all depends on cone angle if you want to see your sucker more often I would use the 19°. If seeing it bothers you go with the narrow cone. I'm thinking the pro view is the upgrade I'm looking at and I have a fl-18 with the standard cone. I like the wide cone as I don't fish much water more than 30'.

Pro view ducer is the one that is controlled by the gain I believe.

Tri beam 19 is different than a single 19- tri beam is "actual" cone beam. I love my tri beam especially when I make my one to two trips fishing deep. Also found it useful when fishing around lots of other sonar, I can go narrow and be clear.

They had a rough start when they first came out but they seem to have it all worked out. In fact-they've be so good most all new units come out tri beam.

Go for it!
