Durango Colorado 1st time fly fishing

Im meeting two of my brothers out in durango colorado this coming weekend to fly fish. Any location suggestions? I like to get away from the crowd and go for seclusion. plenty of rod and reel/lund boat experience but have never fly fished. Renting gear.

I dont mind hiking a couple miles either.

I personally haven't fished in that area but I will do a little research and report back. The only thing that comes to mind off the top of my head in that area is the Animas River. A couple of decent holes in town to try are the "Burger King" hole (pretty self explanatory) and depending on how the water levels are there are a couple decent holes downstream of the bridge behind City Market grocery store and a few on the south end of town. It looks like you could stop in or call Duranglers on Main Ave. for access info and up to date fishing info as well!

You can take the train from durango to silverton and hop off anywhere along the way. (ask when you purchase your tickets) the river is really cool.
