Otter Outdoors makes a product to carry augers. Though not specifically designed for ATV use, Dave, a ATV forum regular, has adapted it for ATV utility. I'm sure he'll be glad to explain it in detail.

I use a set of yokes designed to carry firearms, shovels or whatever. I stick a boat cusion underneath the powerhead for support.

BN, yes, I adapted an Otter Ice Shield to the side of my wheeler (just like a gun scabbard) but it took a custom mount. The Ryan Yoke from USL can be mounted on the rack and work pretty decent. Bornofice probably uses a different brand but there are some pretty strong ones out on the market.
