Striped Gophers/Ground Squirrel Deterrents

got some ground squirrels starting to burrow through garden & strawberry patch, I'm not the killing type (don't mind em around rest of yard) but would like to keep em away from the garden plants as much as possible....any ideas?

use one of the older style rat traps and place the pan of the trap right over their hole-----the trap needs to be upside down with the pan right over the hole. hope you gettem

Or kill them. They are having babies and invading the rest of our yards.

I'm sorry amatuerfishing but the only way to get them out of the garden is to kill them. You can plant certain plants such as Marigolds to act as a deterrent to some animals but don't work on ground squirrels. I go to the local feed store and buy a product called Gopher Getter which is wheat germ with cyanide and use a plastic spoon and put a spoonful of product in each hole. Squirrels eat it and die in the hole. Because cyanide is a secondary killer this is great, no chance of another animal consuming the squirrel and also dying and nothing to dispose of, like they were never there.
