This is a little late but a month or so ago I got a good early birthday present - my first Tiger Trout! This is an incredible fish, a sterile hybrid trout that is produced by fertilizing female Brown trout eggs with male Brook trout sperm. This is a rare occurrence to happen in the wild and they are not a widely stocked trout. Here in Colorado they were stocked in a handful of high mountain lakes to control Brook trout populations because the Tiger is highly piscivorous (fish-eating). The Tiger trout is known to grow faster than most species because they are sterile so all their energy goes towards feeding. These are a rare treasure and if caught they should be handled carefully (wet hands to protect the trouts slime layer), quickly, pictured, and then released to swim another day. They are put there for a reason and are very effective conservation tool, let's let the younger generations experiences these great fish too!

I actually didn't get any close ups, I had my GF snap those two quick and put it back because it inhaled my small spinner. Brown's are one species that isn't in this certain body of water. I'm still waiting to catch my first splake from there!
