need help with a motor

hello guys, I have a 40 horse 89 johnson on my tracker and it seems like its time to put the motor to rest and get a new one. every year I would pay a hefty fee to get it started only to have it die in the middle of the lake somewhere. too many times have this happened, this year I want to put it to rest.

the question now is, I live in minneapolis, does anyone know or reccommend a place where I can buy a used outboard and have it installled? and how much am I gonna be be expecting here? thanks, for all the help.

no help at all... come on guys I know someone has to know a place in the metro where I can locate a used motor?

I think pretty much all places that sell new boats/motors have used ones for sale. I just bought one off of hsolist.

If the outboard was winterized in the Fall it should be ready for the water next Spring.

It sounds like the issues your having haven't been nailed down and fixed for good on this outboard.

As far as cost for a used outboard and mounting. That is hard to answer because you haven't said what year, HP, Make, 4 vs 2 stroke, rebuilt. If you want mounting you've reduced your search to dealers and a couple small shops with used and rebuilt outboards. What that cost might be is up to them.
