Size of baitcasting reel?

I am looking at buying a bait-casting reel with a line counter built in. I have not really used baitcasting reels, I have always used spinning reels.

I fish Lake of the Woods for walleyes, mostly drifting with bottom bouncers but I would like to try trolling some shad raps. I usually use 20lb fireline. Is a larger reel better for certain conditions? All of the reels I have looked at will hold more than enough line.

Any discussion?

Its my belief that those bigger 30 and reel are mostly for leadcore. I'm new to the trolling game too. I bought 2 Magda 15d's and 1 20d they both have way to much line capacity but they work well. The 2 15's have a bunch of backing and 10/2 power slick and the other has 8/2 bionic braid also with backing.

The reels I am looking at come in sizes 15, 20 or 30. I was guessing that maybe a 20 would be a all purpose size?

yes, the 20 size should do you fine.

The larger reels as stated before are for lead core. Which at some point you may want to get in to.
