JBMasterAngler
This was by far the worst ice season I've had since the early 90's! And last year was the worst before that but at least last year I caught some big fish! Numbers of fish weren't there! I didn't get out half the time I wanted! Couple big trips fell through! And even my lake of the woods trip was under par! So this past season was definitely forgettable. As cubs fans always say "there's always next year!" LeDoctaire
I got out more this year than last....maybe twice a week. We got skunked a few times, but we usually caught enough for at least one meal. The gills we kept were from 7-9", with most right around 8". We caught crappies from time to time, with the biggest being 12-14". The perch were consistent, and we tried to be selective with them, too. The last four times, we fished in April, and caught several from 11-13". And we had the smallest ones in the small bay! Walleye & sauger were few & far between. Last year, we got spoiled at Frontenac, catching tons of sauger, crappies, & nice perch. This year, we caught nothing there, so we moved down river to the Wabasha area. I learned a lt this year, too, about equipment & presentation. A great year, in my estimation. I didn't want it to end. ice_medic
This year wasn't to bad. I did get out a lot but here in the banana belt of minnesota the lakes opened up pretty early so there wasn't to much time for late crappies and perch. It was also so warm here during the summer i think there might have been a bit of a summer kill here too. The actual fishing was slow but atleast I could still get out
Jim Uran
It's been a good long ice fishing season! The panfish were cooperative all season long. Plenty of head scratching moments as there is every year, but for the most part I'd call it one of my best. The good thing is, it isn't quite over yet
