Vexilar 3 way transducer?

My old fl-8 transducer (16 years old) finally bit the dust this year. I bought a new 3 way transducer with different degrees. What seems to be the best setting? Can you see the difference in the different angles?

Yes, you should be able to see a difference in the angles. For example, the last time I was fishing in 15ft of water on the 9degree setting I could see my tiny swivel on my line, where as on the other two settings I could not see it. Take into consideration I had my gain turned completely off.

When fishing with my son, I could see his jig on my screen with a 20 degree angle and could not with the others.

Here are my general settings. Sometimes I'll drop to 9 degree from 15-20ft

5-10 ft 20 degree

10-20 ft 12 degree

above 20ft 9 degree

I keep mine at 8 degrees in till I get in shallower water than 10 feet, then I switch it to 20 degree.
