NKLCOLT1911
for those of you who fish with small children what is a better option, i have a base camp now and it would be fine i guess except the set up time and having the little ones waiting outside till i got it up, what do others use when fishing with kids. simple1
Well,After 2 years of using a pop up I finally went to a pull over. I would never go back now. Its just so easy to set up compared to the other, especially when there is a little wind. A pop up still has its place though. fishersofmen
The Predator works well for me and my 2 older boys. However my 5 year old is wanting to fish now too so I will need to seek other options for the 4 of us.
Redbeard5289
It all depends on how many kids you have out with you and what age they are. If they are younger then go with something that will set up quickly, provide enough room for everyone (kids are active and move around quite a bit), and glides nicely on the ice and snow (cuz you know that ultimately if the kids are young you will be towing them back the vehicle at the end of your fishing adventure). Don't ask me how I know this.. :-)I got a pullover for my son and I when he was 6 and we used that faithfully the last 3 years and will continue to use it for just him and I. Its a Frabill Trekker that fits us quite comfortably. Now his cousin Ben wants to join in on the fishing action this winter, he is 12 and there is no way that my Trekker can accomodate all 3 of us. So I found an Eskimo QuickFish used on clist for $75 and that is our go to shelter for the 3 of us. If there is going to be more than 3 in my party then I'll just bring the quickfish as a warming shack and everyone gets a bucket to sit outside with.... :-)My quick answer is to take your kids to one of the big outdoor stores (cabelas, gander mtn, fleetfarm and try out their floor models and see which shelter/shack works best for you and your kids. Hope this helpsRedbeard5289
