dcraven
Has anyone noticed a change in success (w/cats) with the new cubbie laws when using a conibear in MN? I'm talking about success in getting the cats to commit???DC
Random guy
Yes, they don't like it one bit. Lots of tracks until they have to crouch under the overhang, at that point they start looking for another way in and then walk away.

swamptiger
+3.If they would go to a 3 day check for snares, I would just as soon use snares and walk-thru cubbies with footholds, but it makes it tough if you have to check them every day. I haven't even set anything out for cats - waiting for snow..
Random guy
I picked up three cats but had to go old school snare on them. The bodygrip cubby set for cats has been destroyed with the new regs.
Ybone
I caught one in a box the other day but even with the old style boxes I had a lot more lookers but than takers so I'm not so sure the new regs have hurt me any. If he's going to stick his head in there for the bait is he going stop at 7 inches?
Random guy
Once the snow was on I could see where the cats dropped down to wiggle under the overhang but would not go all the way. They then would paw at the cubby trying to get in. I should have put the cubbies on humps getting them more at eye level, no crouching then...maybe? Either way I tagged out on cats running snares so I have a year to figure out the cubby problem. I would like to see if putting the cubby on a hump or big stump works better. Kyle
Do you just set on deer trails? or are you finding trails created by other critters? I seem to see critter tracks around pond edges etc. but no heavy critter trails.
Random guy
Well I have a advantage; bear hunting. Bobcats tend to swing by the bear baits during bear season so I mark those areas and then go after them when cst season opens. Plus my trapline is about 38 miles of atv/snombile so I am always watching for cat tracks.
