sparetime
I'm thinking of building a smaller wheel house and have seen the scissor type (I don't know what they call it), where the tongue hinges at the back of the house and to lower the house the tongue goes up in the air. Both wheels are on the same pivoting tongue. Any idea of where to get plans for these? I have found plans for the normal drop down axles, but not for these. I'd like to build 5x8 or so, but don't know if this type of frame will be heavy duty enough for that. Any suggestions? Dimensions of one you have that works? I wasn't able to find previous discussion of this type of drop down, but I suspect it's out there. A link to the previous discussion may be all I need. Lip_Ripper Guy
I think the Zack Shack uses a similar system to what you are describing.
arctic_scrap1
I've been interested in these too. The biggest draw back I can see is you're pretty limited on where you put your door and I've never saw one with any kind of suspension. fishinnut_3446
I just had a frame made 6x14 with spring don't know if he just started doing this?Very popular over in the Lake Winnebago area for Sturgeon spearing.Only door that going in mine is a atv double door Mine was made by Bowes
sparetime
The attached image isn't drawn correctly, the wheels should be at the back of the house, causing more tongue weight. I posted it to show generally what I have in mind. I'm not planning to drive long distances with it, so I'm not terribly concerned about suspension. I realize I probably shouldn't build a 6x12 house this way. The ones I have seen did not use a winch, just leverage caused by the tongue length. Any thoughts? fishinnut_3446
sparetime,Thats what my frame looks like, but instead of a winch I have a pin on both sides of the frame, and my wheels are alittle farther back. The 6x12 frame with no suspenion would be about $950 at Bowes? My 6x14 with springs was $1450 I went that route because I will be hauling around my wheeler inside. sparetime
Thank you John. I tried the PM, but it wouldn't work. Would you be willing to share some details on the build? Dimensions, location of hinge points, etc.? Or a link to the first time build thread. I'm not having the best luck searching. Thank you
