waterfowler85
Anybody know if you can motor from the weaver access right now? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
RJMOEN
How well do you like your lower unit? Its passable but unless you have a mud motor or want to go REALLY slow I wouldn't recommend it. Weaver bottoms is literally a stump field. I grew up in weaver and you can hear outboards screaming as they flip out of the water when you hit something. If you decide to risk it go mid afternoon so you can see....and put your life jacket on.
waterfowler85
Thanks for the info RJMOEN. I have hunted there before so i do remember the stumps, but that was out of 12 v hull. I have an 18foot mod-v now with a 35hp. Not worried about my lower unit as it already has issues. More worried about my boat just floating. It sits 6 inches in the water and the proper sits another 6 inches below that so really i need 12 inches to do it easily. This is the only access i have ever been to as i am from way out of the area and only hunted the mississippi once. Are the landings to the north or south more accessable than the weaver access? I am thinking maybe if i can get in on the main channel and boat up to the backwaters i may be better off. Any thoughts? Thanks for sharing your local knowledge!
