muskielaw
I have a yamaha 150 hpdi and have changed the lower unit oil the last three years myself. I always pump a quart into the lower unit until the oil starts coming out the top hole. This year the oil hasn't come out the top hole before I run out of oil. I pumped a quart in and it didn't come out the top so I decided to drain it and try again with a new quart (different brand with different shaped bottle) but got same result. Should I be fine or should I try a different bottle. There is a little left in the quart that the pumpt can't get so am wondering if the bottle is a different shape then the quarts of oil I have used in the past. I am just concerned that there is not enough oil in the unit. Thanks
delcecchi
My solution would be to buy two bottles. Put one in, switch pump, put a little more in.
Lund79
I agree with delcecchi. Maybe all the oil wasn't drained out completely the prior years for whatever reason. You need to add until it comes out the top.
