Drew a wolf permit... tactics?

I drew a MN wolf tag! Now the problem is I have no idea how to go about hunting a wolf. I'll be hunting in the Ely area late season, hopefully by snowmobile if the ice and snow conditions cooperate.

My best ideas are either to travel by sled at night, stopping to howl for them to locate a pack, then go back at sunrise and try to call them in with a dying rabbit or fawn bleat. I also thought about staking out a fresh kill site or bait with some beaver carcasses and use a raven call and/or coyote yip to try and trigger a territorial response.

Any ideas?

Wolves are both curious and territorial. A little howling goes a long ways. Another good helper is pick up some good old wolf urine to help close the distance if they get on the wrong side of your wind.
