Paul Rohweller
A couple weeks ago I was riding up in the white earth state forest. Spent the day dodging rocks only to tweek the tip of one of my skis on my indy lite. Took the ski off and brought it to work, got it all back in order and gave it a quick coat of paint. Wife picked me up about 45 minutes later, I tossed the ski in the back seat. About a block down the road shes saying, that stinks, is it still wet? (NO) put it in the trunk..We pulled into the drive up atm lane at the local bank. She popped the trunk and I moved the ski back to the trunk, all is well. We did our banking and we were just about out of town when all of a sudden theres flashing red lights all over. Karrie (my bride of almost 10 years) is crapping her pants , I didnt run any lights, I wasnt speeding, what the heck is going on?? She pulled over followed closely by 2 of moorehead mn's finest. Officer walks up to the car, (cautiously) and knocks on my window.. Were you just at the bank? Well, ya! Law asks do you have any guns in the vehicle? No I answered. Will you step out of the car? Ya. I tell karrie to pop the trunk as I go to back of car noticing how many officers are watching and noticing how many guns are out of their holsters. The trunk was partway open and I tried to open it completely, but ossifer was holding it down and asking me what they were going to find. I told him a ski, I tweeked a ski and I had to fix it. He finally let me open the trunk completely when he saw the ski, they poked at it like it was going to go off without warning. After deciding that it was allright and I was no threat to my wife, daughter and society as a whole they looked rather relieved. A smile even came out. "you just cant be too careful nowadays" said the officer. All was well and we went on our way. After thinking about this for a few days some questions ran thru my mind. What if this had been my pickup? What if the law had seen the knife that was hanging off my belt? What if I still had long hair? Next time I will know enough to carry skis in a case so its all legal.. lolol Good sleddin! Guest
Nice one Paul! I'm surprised Moorhead's finest didn't arrest you for that! I (used to) work with them and know their tactics quite well. In that county a ski would be a weapon!
