theharvester
why didnt the state raise the redhead limit to three like it was recommended for the flyway ? they are over 90 percent above the long term average.yet they raised the wood duck? Scott M
I'm a little perplexed there isn't more adaptability with the possession limit....honestly it probably means very little as most wouldn't or couldn't keep 3 bags instead of 2 but they talk about record continental duck numbers, they go liberal with the daily bags, then say they can't change the possession? By the time it gets changed the birds will be on the downswing. Again, it's really not a big deal since who needs 18 ducks in the freezer instead of 12, but I scratch my head on the reasoning a little. From what I read they didn't have the option to change that till next year and it sounded like everyone was on board for the increase. And it is a big deal between 12 and 18 ducks in the freezer if you hunt a lot or hunt multiple states. I get sick of eating duck every few days in the fall by the time November rolls around. I like the changes the state has made in the last couple years but I think it would have been wise to put stricter hen limits for Bills and Mallards. If memory serves, states can set the daily bag limits, but the possession limit (twice the daily bag limit) is set by the feds and doesn't change.
