Getting Ready

Paul-
I go through the entire sled to make sure everything is lubed and tight before I ride, and the grease fittings don't get all iced up and forgotten. There is a lot of maintanance with these machines. Low temp. grease is crucial. There is a main bearing that has left me stranded before, its located under the secondary clutch on my Arctic Cat, and it is also part of the speedometer cable housing unit. Always grease this bearing!

I suppose I should change the anti-freeze after 4 seasons? It looks good, but....?

How about the chaincase, change the gear oil?

What are your items on a checklist, Paul?

CD, Here's my checklist:

1. I start by cleaning the suspension and engine compartment with the degreasing solution at the local carwash. This allows my to spot any possible problems with oil, antifreeze, or fuel leaks.

2. I check the anti-freeze and change when necessary. Min cahnge every 2 years

3. Spark plugs - New season, new plugs

4. Drive Belt - Check for any cracks or tears, also look for rubber shavings around clutch area. Always carry a spare.

5. Chaincase - I change the fluid once a year and also check chain tension.

6. Suspension - Inspect both the front and rear, Lubricate and check all bolts and screws to ensure nothing is loose, check shocks and grease, check slides for wear, and lastly check track tension.

Hope this gives everyone a starting point

Paul
