overdalimit
1972 888 mercruiser setup. Power tilt and trim is leaking down, switch is bad, motor sticks, solonoids only work some of the time, ect... how big of a deal would it be to upgrade to a more modern T & T pump? Thought is to just put a momentary on/off/on switch on the dash. will the lines from the old style pump match up with an oildyne pump? If not are they adaptable? Do I need to change the pistons too or can we use the old ones if in good cond?
boatfixer
Your system is a high pressure/low volumn and the newer systems are low pressure/high volumn. You would need to change the cylinders and adapt the old lines.Imho, I would search for reman or new after market pumps which are still available. You will save money and time. overdalimit
my concern is reliability. have heard that the oildyne T&T sysyem is much more reliable than the old prestolite system...or am I just borrowing trouble by re-inventing the wheel?
