slopped or flat roof

I am at the point in my build where it is time for some inputs on a roof. I was going to do a flat rubber roof, but people helping me with the build thinks there needs to be a slope/pitch in it, what are your thoughts and opinions. I am not opposed to a pitch, but a flat rubber roof seems more simple and practical.

I have a flat rubber roof. I used aluminum sheets for the roof and put the rubber over the aluminum. Spray foam on the interior helps make the roof rigid and strong.

That is interesting. Do you use the same glue as you use on plywood?

MJ - I had the sheets of aluminum cut so that they would lay on top of the studs used for the roof. I had the sheets cut wider than the house and had them bent at a 90 degree angle. I secured sheets to the studs using PL Premium and some VHB tape. I then used the glue that is specifically made for the roof to secure the rubber to the aluminum roof. Next, I used aluminum termination bar and stainless hardware where the rubber overhangs the roof. Roof is really solid and no water issues after two years of use.

Here's a pic. Sorry I don't have anything close-up, but I pretty much copied Lip_Ripper's 2010 roof.

I thought about doing exactly this for the new house. The aluminum is a lot lighter than plywood, and since a lot of the aluminum sheets are 10' long, you'll eliminate a lot of waste.

I also saved about $20+ per sheet buying pieces that were scratched and couldn't sell for full price.
